In the past few days, Elder Clawson and myself have met some persons of note.
Last Friday, Feb 27, we were requested to attend a recital by Lauren Green for our Director. Lauren Green is an accomplished concert pianist. She is also the religion editor for Fox News as well as contributing to the music on the Huckabee TV SHOW. The recital was in Steinway Hall, the flagship store for the display and sale of Steinway pianos in NYC. The music was especially beautiful. I really enjoyed it. Lauren was also Miss Minnesota and 3rd runner-up to the Miss America Pagent 20 years ago. As she took her final bow whe referred to the Huckabee Show and nodded in our direction. Elder Clawson thought that Governor Huckabee must be right behind us. We stood up, turned around and there he was. E. Cl. introduced us and said we are on a mission from Utah for our church and my wife is Mitt R omney's cousin. Mr Huckabee then proceeded to tell us how terrible he thought it was the way our church members were treated over Proposition 8. He then had to leave to do his show - was in a hurry - and didn't talk to anyone else. We talked to Lauren Green and enjoyed a cookie but skipped the champagne.
The next night, Sat., Feb 28th, we attended our ward's 80's party. While there we visited with many of the couples who make up our ward which is MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS. We met our Bishop's wife - she and our Bishop are the Adam and Eve in one of the temple movies. They are the Moes. Another cute girl was Natalie Willis who was trying to teach me all the in's and out's of NYC.
Sunday, we had a dinner in our apartment for an English Diplomat, a Mr. Trevor Davies, who was here on a UN MISSION. He was lined up with our PA persons by our PA office in Geneva. In the evening we enjoyed a visit from Joseph, Celia, and Carolee- yeh!
Monday (today) it is back to the office where it is very quiet as we are experiencing a big snow storm - which is nothing really by our western standards.
